BPC Hosting August Housing Forums

In August, the Bipartisan Policy Center’s Housing Commission will host three regional forums. The forums will cover a breadth of topics, including the state of the housing market, affordable rental housing, rural housing, and reform of our nation’s mortgage system. The forums will feature key members of Congress and leaders in the housing industry. All forums are free and open to the public.The August 13 forum in Dallas will feature keynote remarks by House Committee on Financial Services Chair Jeb Hensarling (R-TX). Mel Martinez, former U.S. Senator and HUD Secretary, and former HUD Secretary Henry Cisneros, both Housing Commission co-chairs, will also provide remarks. Panel discussions will focus on homeownership and the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage, housing finance reform, and expanding the affordable housing supply with the low income housing tax credit.The August 22 forum in Ketchum, ID will feature keynote remarks from Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Ranking Member Mike Crapo (R-ID). Kit Bond, former U.S. Senator, and former HUD Secretary Cisneros, both Housing Commission co-chairs, will also provide remarks. Panel discussions will focus on housing finance reform and the future of FHA, innovation in rural housing, and community lenders and the role of small banks.The August 27 forum in Columbus, OH will feature keynote remarks by House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Select Revenue Measures Chair Pat Tiberi (R-OH).
