The National Center for Homeless Education recently released a government-funded report, “Education for Homeless Children and Youths Program: Data Collection Summary,” that says that homelessness is on the rise among children and youth. In the 2009-2010 school year, more than 900,000 school children experienced homelessness in the United States, an increase of 18% since the start of the recession.
