NLIHC is pleased to announce that HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan will deliver a keynote address at our 2014 conference. Registration is now open for IMAGINE: NLIHC’s 2014 Housing Policy Conference and Lobby Day, which will take place Sunday, April 27 through Wednesday, April 30 at the Marriott Wardman Park hotel in Washington, DC. Early registration closes on February 2 so don’t delay!
Join with us as we imagine a time when no parent has to choose between rent and buying a child’s winter coat, when no family has to sleep in a car, when no senior has to fear eviction, when no one with a disability who can live independently is consigned to an institution, when poor families can choose where they want to live, when we no longer need emergency shelters.
Advocates, providers, residents, and policy professionals from across the country will come together at NLIHC’s Annual Housing Policy Conference. To mark NLIHC’s 40th anniversary, we will spend our conference looking back at the past 40 years of low income housing, and moving forward with solving the housing challenges of the lowest income Americans. The conference will culminate with our Lobby Day where attendees will head to the Hill to take action and tell their legislators what their communities need.
Programming will include:
- 4 Plenary Sessions with breakfast or lunch
- 40 workshops
- 40th Anniversary Evening Reception
- Presentation of the Annual Media, State and Local Organizing, and Resident Organizing Awards
- NLIHC Annual Member meeting
- Exhibits and Information tables: NLIHC Legislative Action Center, NLIHC Resources Center, NLIHC Membership Table, Sponsor and Partner Exhibits
- Pre-conference Institute
- Lobby Day
Workshop topics include Implementation of the National Housing Trust Fund, Mortgage Interest Deduction Reform, GSE Reform, Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing, Protecting Tenants at Foreclosure, Voterization, Public Housing, Using housing data for advocacy, Rental Assistance Demonstration, HUD and USDA funding, and many more critical topics for housing advocates!
