On Saturday, January 10, the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) at the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) received the final version of the Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing regulations from HUD.
Technically, OIRA has 90 days to review the final rule, with OIRA sending questions and suggestions to HUD for HUD clarification and response. There can be many iterations of OIRA asking questions and making suggestions. Rules sometimes remain at OIRA for much longer than 90 days. For example, the final National Housing Trust Fund regulations have been at OIRA since June 11.
