Homes for Heroes Act Passes House

The Homes for Heroes Act, H.R. 384, passed the House of Representatives on May 15 by a vote of 420 to 3. The legislation, introduced by Representative Al Green (D-TX), now awaits action in the Senate. The measure also passed the House of Representatives in the 112th Congress, but was not approved by the Senate prior to the end of the last Congress.H.R. 384 would establish the position of Special Assistant for Veterans Affairs at HUD. The bill would also mandate the annual submission of the Supplemental Veterans Annual Homeless Assessment Report (AHAR). While the current Administration has submitted a Veterans AHAR annually, the report is not explicitly mandated by law (see Memo, 2/1).View the full text of H.R. 384 at: http://1.usa.gov/12OSQOY
