The House Financial Services Subcommittee on Insurance, Housing and Community Opportunity approved H.R. 3298, the Homes for Heroes Act, on December 8. The legislation, introduced by Representative Al Green (D-TX), was approved by voice vote.
H.R. 3298 would establish the position of Special Assistant for Veterans Affairs at HUD to improve coordination of housing services for veterans with the federal government. The legislation would also mandate the annual submission of the Supplemental Veterans Annual Homeless Assessment Report (AHAR) (see Memo, 11/4). NLIHC submitted a letter in support of the legislation prior to the Subcommittee markup.
The panel also approved H.R. 3559, the Insurance Data Protection Act and H.R. 2446, the RESPA Home Warranty Clarification Act of 2011, at the markup.
