HUD and FEMA have extended DHAP funding for 4,000 households in Louisiana and Texas affected by Hurricane Ike and currently enrolled in the program. Set to expire on September 30, funding has been extended through January 2012 unless HUD’s FY12 funding bill includes a housing choice voucher set-aside for DHAP recipients. If so, DHAP funding would end within 60 days of the bill’s enactment. The Senate’s draft T-HUD legislation contains this provision, but it is not known whether the final bill will have it. A formal announcement of the extension has not yet been made.
