HUD has posted a webcast about using tenant participation funds provided by the Public Housing Operating Fund. Each public housing agency (PHA) receives $25 per occupied public housing unit for tenant participation activities. On August 23, 2013, HUD published Notice PIH 2013-21 to clarify previous guidance on the use of tenant participation funds in public housing (see Memo, 8/30/13). The webcast discusses key topics such as the Section 964 regulation’s provisions regarding the roles of residents and PHAs in determining the use of tenant participations funds, and the Notice’s examples of a broader range of allowable and unallowable uses.
Presenters include Virginia Flores from HUD, the primary author or the Notice, Ron Ashford of HUD, and Ed Gramlich, NLIHC Director of Regulatory Affairs.
