As the 112th Congress completed its second week, many House and Senate committee assignments remain in flux. House Republicans have announced their committee rosters, but Democrats may not complete their assignments until the week of January 24.
Representative Spencer Bachus (R-AL) will chair the House Financial Services Committee and Representative Judy Biggert (R-IL) will chair the Subcommittee on Insurance, Housing and Community Opportunity, The other Republican members of the committee are Representatives Michele Bachmann (MN), John Campbell (CA), Francisco “Quico” Canseco (TX), Shelley Moore Capito (WV), Robert Dold (IL), Sean P. Duffy (WI), Michael G. Fitzpatrick (PA), Scott Garrett (NJ), Michael G. Grimm (NY), Nan Hayworth (NY), Jeb Hensarling (TX), Bill Huizenga (MI), Robert Hurt (VA), Walter Jones (NC), Peter King (NY), Frank Lucas (OK), Ron Paul (TX), Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO), Donald Manzullo (IL), Kenny Marchant (TX), Kevin McCarthy (CA), Thaddeus McCotter (MI), Patrick McHenry (NC), Gary Miller (CA), Randy Neugebauer (TX), Steve Pearce (NM), James B. Renacci (OH), Bill Posey (FL), Ed Royce (CA), David Schweikert (AZ), Steve Stivers (OH) and Lynn Westmoreland (GA).
Senate committee assignments are being finalized, as well. Senator Tim Johnson (D-SD) will chair the Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs and Senator Richard Shelby (R-AL) will be the ranking member. Democrats on the committee are Senators Jack Reed (RI), Charles Schumer (NY), Robert Menendez (NJ), Daniel Akaka (HI), Sherrod Brown (OH), Jon Tester (MT), Herb Kohl (WI), Mark Warner (VA), Jeff Merkley (OR), and Michael Bennet (CO). The Republicans on the committee are Mike Crapo (ID), Bob Corker (TN), Jim DeMint (SC), David Vitter (LA), Mike Johanns (NE) and Kay Bailey Hutchison (TX).
