Representative Mike Honda (D-CA) co-sponsored H.R. 1213, the Common-Sense Housing Investment Act, on January 28. The measure, which has been referred to the House Committee on Financial Services, now has 12 co-sponsors. Mr. Honda is the third member of the California delegation to co-sponsor H.R 1213. The others are Representatives Barbara Lee and Alan Lowenthal, both Democrats.
H.R. 1213 includes the United for Homes campaign proposal to modify the mortgage interest deduction, and applies the majority of revenue raised from the changes to the National Housing Trust Fund. Advocates are encouraged to contact their representative in Congress and ask him or her to cosponsor the measure.
