On May 6, House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member John Conyers (D-MI) co-sponsored H.R. 1213, the Common Sense Housing Investment Act of 2013. The bill, introduced by Representative Keith Ellison (D-MN), includes the United for Homes Campaign’s proposed changes to the mortgage interest deduction and would apply the majority of revenue raised through the changes to the National Housing Trust Fund.
H.R. 1213 it now has 13 co-sponsors. Advocates are urged to encourage their Representatives to co-sponsor the bill before the close of the 113th Congress.
H.R. 1213 has been referred to the House Committee on Ways and Means and Committee on Financial Services.
