The National Fair Housing Alliance (NFHA) will hold a webinar about the fair housing rights of persons with disabilities on Thursday, August 16 at 2 pm EDT.
Last year, 44% of all fair housing complaints came from persons with disabilities. The webinar will cover the Fair Housing Act provisions related to disability, the Section 504 provisions of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) as it relates to housing. In addition, the webinar will discuss when a reasonable accommodation or modification need arises, what a request for reasonable accommodation should include, and what the standards are for granting or denying such a request. An overview of the design and construction requirements for accessibility under the federal Fair Housing Amendments Act will round out the webinar.
Anne Houghtaling, Executive Director of the HOPE Fair Housing Center of Wheaton, Illinois is the presenter.
On September 10, NFHA will hold a webinar titled “Promoting Diverse Communities and Communicating Fair Housing.”
