NHT, NCSHA, CLPHA Hold Congressional Briefing on Multi-family Development

The National Housing Trust, the National Council of State Housing Agencies, and the Council of Large Public Housing Authorities are hosting an “Affordable Multifamily Housing Development 101” briefing for congressional staff on September 13. Kris Siglin of the Housing Partnership Network, Pat Sylvester of the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development, Victor Smeltz, Executive Director of the Renaissance Neighborhood Development Corporation, and Adrianne Todman, Executive Director, District of Columbia Housing Authority will discuss how federal programs are used to create affordable housing at the state and local level for working families, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities or special needs. Speakers will cover issues such as financing the development of affordable rental housing through state and federal resources; using the Low Income Housing Tax Credit to create affordable rental and homeownership opportunities; and operating and preserving affordable rental housing through HUD’s rental assistance programs. The briefing will be from 10-11 am ET in room 562 of the Dirksen Senate office building.
