NLIHC Accepting Applications for Fall 2013 Internships

NLIHC is accepting resumes for Fall 2013 intern positions. Interns are highly valued and fully integrated into our work. We seek students passionate about social justice issues, with excellent writing and interpersonal skills. The internship includes a modest stipend. The available positions are:

  • Communications Intern. Assists with the planning of NLIHC’s annual media awards; participates in the preparation and distribution of press materials and NLIHC publications; assists staff with website and social media networking projects; updates media database and tracks press hits.
  • Policy Intern. Tracks new federal legislation; attends and summarizes Congressional hearings for Memo to Members, our weekly newsletter; participates in visits to Congressional offices and develops materials for use in advocating NLIHC priorities with Members of the House and Senate and their staff; updates Congressional database.
  • Outreach Intern. Assists with grassroots organizing efforts for the United for Homes Campaign and other legislative campaigns; participates in membership recruitment and retention activities; works on State Coalition Partner projects, including the biennial funding source survey; updates membership and constituent database.
  • Research Intern. Assists with quantitative and qualitative research projects; writes articles on current research for Memo to Members; attends briefings; assists staff in response to research inquiries from members and other stakeholders.
