NLIHC Welcomes Fall Interns

NLIHC is pleased to welcome four new interns for fall.Isabella Blanchard and Shira Steinberg join NLIHC as fall outreach interns. A native of Essex, Vermont, Isabella is currently in her freshman year at American University in Washington, D.C. pursuing a degree in history with minors in religion and Arab studies. She has worked for nonprofits in the past and hopes to work in law or education upon graduation.A sophomore at the University of Maryland, Shira is majoring in government and politics, and psychology. She plans to attend law school in the future, and hopes to one day pursue a career in government. Shira is involved in her school’s mock trial team and a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta honor fraternity.Mary Donoghue joins NLIHC as the fall research intern. She is a recent graduate of American University, where she majored in sociology and with a minor in American studies. Mary plans to attend graduate school for urban planning, focusing on housing and community development.Michael Jones joins NLIHC as the fall policy intern. Michael graduated from Louisiana State University in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies in leadership and society, with minors in history, leadership development and political science. During college, Michael participated in the Student Government Association and served as a senator for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. Michael’s volunteer, work and internship experiences include stints at the Baton Rouge Community Garden Alliance, UNITE HERE, and The 100 Black Men of Metro Baton Rouge. His goal is to pursue a career in public policy.
