The National Low Income Housing Coalition will release Out of Reach 2015 on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at 1:00 pm ET. Out of Reach is NLIHC’s annual report featuring the Housing Wage, the wage a household must earn in order to afford a modest rental home in communities across the country.
Each year, the data in Out of Reach informs housing policy makers and advocates at the national, state, and local levels. The report provides the Housing Wage for every state, metropolitan area, and county in the country. It also provides the average wages of renters, the number of hours minimum wage earners must work to afford rent, and the cost of rental homes across the country.
This year NLIHC is launching a new interactive Out of Reach website, which will feature charts, infographics, and maps, as well as an opportunity to compare data across jurisdictions. All data can easily be printed, downloaded, and shared via social media or email. The site will also include any news items related to Out of Reach, and a twitter feed showing tweets with the hashtags #OOR2015 or #HousingWage.
Oregon Governor Kate Brown authored the report’s preface this year.
