On September 17, the Senate confirmed President Barak Obama’s nomination of Bradford Huther to be HUD’s next Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Huther previously served as a Senior Advisor at the U.S. Patent and Trade Office within the Department of Commerce. Mr. Huther was nominated for the position on March 13. HUD’s CFO is responsible for accounting, budget, and financial management of HUD’s appropriation. This is also the HUD office responsible for processing millions of transactions annually to support HUD projects and programs.
The Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee scheduled a hearing on the nomination of Lourdes Castro Ramirez to be HUD Assistant Secretary for Public and Indian Housing (PIH), replacing Sandra Henriquez, who left HUD this summer. President Obama nominated Ms. Castro Ramirez on August 1 (see Memo, 8/4). The hearing will be on September 23 at 10 am in room 538 of the Dirksen Senate office building.
Still pending is the nomination of Nani A. Coloretti to be HUD Deputy Secretary. Her nomination was reported out of committee on April 29 (see Memo, 5/2).
