A hearing, “The Administration’s Report to Congress: Reforming America’s Housing Finance Market,” will be held on March 15 in the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan will be the hearing’s witnesses.
On February 11, the Obama Administration delivered Reforming America’s Housing Finance Market to Congress. The report includes a commitment to access and affordability in whatever new housing finance system is developed, and specifically references the need for a dedicated funding mechanism that “would support the development and preservation of more affordable rental housing for the lowest-income families to address serious supply shortages, similar to the Housing Trust Fund that the President has proposed to be capitalized.”
The March 15 hearing will be at 10 am in room 538 of the Dirksen
Senate office building. The hearing can be viewed via webcast at http://banking.senate.gov.
