A website devoted to refuting misinformation about the National Housing Trust Fund (NHTF) has been reactivated in the wake of the introduction of H.R. 2441, the Housing Trust Fund Elimination Act of 2011, by Representative Ed Royce (R-CA) (see Memo, 7/15). In one new document posted, statements made by Mr. Royce at the bill’s markup on July 12 that were inaccurate or misleading are countered with the facts. An analysis of the list of 89 HUD programs cited at the mark-up as evidence that the NHTF is not needed is posted as well. The programs for which rental housing production is an eligible activity are distinguished from all the other programs.
