Webinar to Facilitate Talking About the Anticipated Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing Rule

The National Fair Housing Alliance and the Opportunity Agenda will host a webinar to help prepare advocates communicate about HUD’s affirmatively furthering fair housing (AFFH) regulation. It is important for advocates to broadly convey support when the final rule is released this summer.

The purpose of the new regulation is to implement a long-standing provision of the Fair Housing Act of 1968. The affirmatively furthering fair housing rule will provide jurisdictions with the tools and data needed to identify and address local barriers to fair housing and to connect that analysis with their plans for allocating federal housing and community development resources.

The webinar will help advocates talk about AFFH with a range of audiences. Presenters will provide a framework for AFFH communications before, during, and after the rule is published, including developing a communication plan tied to the announcement of the final rule.

The free webinar is scheduled for Thursday, June 4 at 1:00 pm ET.

Presenters will be:

  • Debby Goldberg, Vice President for Housing Policy and Special Projects, National Fair Housing Alliance
  • Eva-Marie Malone, Economic Opportunity Coordinator, The Opportunity Agenda
  • Kevin Paul, Communications Associate, National Fair Housing Alliance
