The Alliance for Excellent Education (AEE) and the National Association for the Education of Homeless Children and Youth (NAEHCY) will hold a webcast on the impact of experiencing homelessness on student educational attainment. Barbara Duffield of NAEHCY and Phillip Lovell of AEE will share stories of four homeless students and the challenges they face in graduating from high school due to becoming homeless.
AAE and NAEHCY say that, “the Department of Education reports that over 950,000 homeless children are entering classrooms across the country—a 41 percent increase since the beginning of the recession,” making homelessness an increasingly important issue for schools and communities to address. This webinar is the first in a series titled, “Foreclosed Futures,” each of which will address a different set of challenges faced by people who become homeless.
The first webinar will be held March 24 from 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm ET. To register and submit questions for the webinar, visit: http://media.all4ed.org/registration-mar-24.
