Senators Bill Nelson (D-FL), Marco Rubio (R-FL), Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Dick Durbin (D-IL), Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Bob Casey (D-PA), and Tom Carper (D-DE) sent a letter to the chair and ranking member of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and Maria Cantwell (D-WA), requesting additional hearings on recovery efforts in Puerto Rico, particularly those related to power restoration. The Army Corps of Engineers, which has been coordinating efforts to repair the island’s electric grid, is reportedly reducing the number of workers in Puerto Rico, despite the fact that many residents still lack reliable power.
