Enhanced NLIHC AFFH Sample Comment Letter

NLIHC urges advocates to submit comments about HUD’s proposed improvements to existing regulations regarding affirmatively furthering fair housing choice (AFFH). Last week NLIHC provided a preliminary sample comment letter (see Memo, 8/30). NLIHC now has an enhanced sample comment letter with additional issues based on continued input from advocates. Newly added resources on NLIHC’s AFFH webpage include:

  • Complete webinar slides, including the presentation by Debby Goldberg of the National Fair Housing Alliance (NFHA).
  • A one-page background paper from the Poverty & Race Research Action Council.
  • An analysis by Michael Allen of Relman, Dane & Colfax, PLLC.
  • A link to a new section on the NFHA website devoted to AFFH. It includes slides from a recent NFHA webinar, a messaging memo, and numerous other documents relating to AFFH.

It is very important that HUD receive many comment letters supporting the proposed rule, but with constructive comments for improving the rule in its final form. Comments are due September 17.NLIHC’s enhanced sample comment letter and other AFFH items are at: http://nlihc.org/issues/affh
