The NLIHC-led Disaster Housing Recovery Coalition (DHCR) sent a letter to House Financial Services Chair Jeb Hensarling (R-TX) and Representative Ann Wagner (R-MO) regarding a bill that would authorize the Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) program. The letter provides recommendations regarding data transparency, efficient use of limited resources, oversight, mitigation and resiliency, and other suggestions to ensure the needs of low income households are addressed. Representative Wagner introduced in December 2017 the “Reforming Disaster Recovery Act of 2018” (H.R. 1557), which will most likely be voted on in committee at the end of April.
