NLIHC To Close Out the Summer of IDEAS With a Screening of Finding Home Documentary

Sep 14, 2026

By May Louis-Juste, NLIHC Project Manager, Strategic Partnerships

On September 23 at 5:30 pm ET, join NLIHC for the final Summer of IDEAS event, a virtual screening of Project Home's Finding Home documentary, "From Foster Care to Homelessness: A Film & Conversation on the Fight for Stability.” This virtual screening will be followed by a community conversation about housing, stability, and the systems that help people build a path forward. The documentary highlights the experiences of families and young adults navigating homelessness and housing instability, while showcasing the transformative impact of supportive housing and programs designed to help people not only find a home, but thrive in it.

Through personal stories, Finding Home explores the barriers that can make housing instability difficult to escape from aging out of foster care to navigating employment, transportation, health, and other basic needs. The film is designed to help us consider what becomes possible when people have the stability, resources, and support they need to build an independent future.

After this virtual screening, we will be joined by advocates/filmmakers/community members for a discussion on the importance of this film and what we as individuals can do to be a voice in the fight for housing justice.

Whether you joined us for our previous Summer of IDEAS events or are attending for the first time, this screening offers an opportunity to learn, connect, and imagine what equitable investments in people and homes can look like.
