NLIHC is pleased to welcome Lucas Eisenberg as a Fall 2026 Policy Intern.
Lucas is a second-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Communications, Legal Institutions, Economics, and Government (CLEG) at American University. From Montclair, New Jersey, Lucas saw how the lack of affordable housing can push long-term residents out of their hometowns. As a student, he engaged in local politics by organizing debate panels between municipal candidates and drafting legislation to address the town’s housing issues.
Lucas has experience working in the NJ General Assembly, writing policy memos on legislation going through the chamber. He also interned on United States Representative Analilia Mejia’s reelection campaign. On campus, he writes for American University’s undergraduate law review and developed mock legislation through participation in the school’s travel Model UN team.
Driven by a desire to build vibrant, dense urban communities, Lucas’s strong interest in writing policy to increase and preserve housing supply fueled these efforts. He is eager to apply his passion for housing policy at NLIHC and inform the organization’s members about legislation in Congress. Lucas is committed to supporting NLIHC’s efforts to advance federal legislation that provides affordable housing for low-income renters.
