Celebrate Election Hero Day on November 6!

Election Hero Day (Monday, November 6) is a nonpartisan Civic Holiday that recognizes the tremendous importance of election workers and volunteers. Our democracy depends on election heroes’ hard work to make our elections safe, secure, and accessible to all. Election heroes include state and territorial election officials, local election clerks and directors, election office staff, poll workers, and other community members involved with the democratic process. NLIHC’s nonpartisan Our Homes, Our Votes campaign, which aims to boost voter turnout among low-income renters and educate candidates about housing solutions, is proud to join hundreds of businesses, nonprofits, educational institutions, and community organizations across the country in recognizing Election Hero Day.

To celebrate Election Hero Day, take the time to thank your friends, family, and colleagues who work tirelessly and selflessly to make our elections run smoothly. You can also use sample social media content from Election Hero Day’s partner toolkit to celebrate the election heroes in your community. Promote the stories of your local election workers, use the hashtag #ThankYouElectionHeroes, and be sure to tag @ElectionHeroDay and @OurHomesVotes.

Election Hero Day, which takes place the day before Election Day, is also the perfect time to make sure you have a plan to vote. Visit www.vote411.org to make a voting plan. If you are voting in person, be sure to say thank you to any election hero you encounter when you cast your ballot!
