By Tia Turner, NLIHC Project Manager, Our Homes, Our Votes

National Low Income Housing Coalition’s Our Homes, Our Votes(OHOV) campaign is a nonpartisan initiative to boost voter turnout among low-income renters and elevate housing as an election issue.

Register today and join us on March 9 at 3:00 pm ET for the next session in the 2026 Our Homes, Our Votes monthly webinar series: “Building Voting Power Locally: How Local Elections Set the Stage for 2026.” This webinar will highlight how local and state advocacy efforts shape housing policy outcomes and help build the civic infrastructure necessary to drive turnout in federal elections. Participants will learn how local engagement strengthens long-term voter participation and advances housing justice priorities.

The session will feature partners working on the ground to build civic participation and remove barriers to voting. New PA Project will share insights on building durable civic engagement infrastructure at the local and state levels, including strategies to engage historically underrepresented voters, strengthen community partnerships, and connect local and state election participation to broader policy outcomes. VoteRiders will also join the call to discuss recent ballot initiatives and legislative efforts related to voter ID requirements, including emerging state-level proposals often referred to as “mini SAVE Acts.” They will provide practical guidance on how organizations can help the communities they serve navigate voter ID requirements and ensure eligible voters can successfully cast a ballot for this year’s elections.

This webinar series is critical to the campaign’s mission of ensuring renters are fairly represented in our democracy at a time when renters remain severely underrepresented in our political process. The series equips advocates with proven, effective resources such as election protection and voter registration activities while confronting emerging challenges such as the rise of misinformation and escalating present day threats to voter engagement.
