A new post on NLIHC’s On the Home Front blog explores how NLIHC works to strengthen renters’ rights. In addition to explaining why renters’ rights are needed and overviewing the challenges facing low-income renters, the post summarizes a number of key tenant protections, including protections that (1) prevent against discrimination; (2) ensure a tenant’s right to organize; (3) uphold fair and transparent application processes; (4) guarantee rights during tenancy; and (5) apply to the eviction process. The post also discusses the work of NLIHC’s State and Local Innovation project, which supports state and local partners in advancing, implementing, and enforcing state and local tenant protections.
