NLIHC Board Seeks Nominations

Jan 21, 2011

NLIHC’s Nominating Committee seeks members who wish to be considered for service on the Board of Directors.

The board is composed of 24 people. Six positions are reserved for low income persons (defined as having income of 50% of area median or less), six for representatives of allied national organizations and six for representatives of state housing coalitions. Up to six positions are unrestricted or at-large. This year, there are openings for two low income people and three representatives from national organizations.

At least 90% of board members must have low incomes or be or have been engaged directly in working with low income persons to meet their housing needs.

NLIHC strives to achieve broad diversity among its board members in terms of race, ethnicity, gender and geography, including representatives from both urban and rural communities. We seek to have as many different states represented as possible.

Board members are elected for three year terms and can be nominated to two additional three year terms. New board members will be elected at the board’s March 26 meeting.

Interested NLIHC members should send a letter detailing their qualifications and interest in serving to President Sheila Crowley at [email protected] by February 4.
