NLIHC Brings Unblocked Englewood to Baltimore on August 13 – Save The Date

NLIHC’s next Summer of IDEAs event will take place on August 13 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm ET at Unity Hall in Baltimore, MD. “Unblocked Screening/Community Conversation on Affordable Housing & Advocacy,” is a documentary by MacArthur Grant Award Winner Tonika Lewis Johnson and Chicago Bungalow Association researcher Amber Hendley. This documentary explores how predatory land contracts extracted millions of dollars from aspiring Black homeowners in Chicago, particularly in Englewood. The film follows Tonika Johnson and the Chicago Bungalow Association as they repair homes in Englewood through a public art initiative. Housing discrimination affects communities nationwide, from Chicago and Los Angeles to Baltimore. 

Summer of IDEAS is a monthly film series featuring documentaries on the realities of the modern housing crisis. By bringing together community members, service providers, activists, artists, and leaders, the series aims to inspire meaningful change through film and discussion.
