NLIHC will release the 2019 edition of Out of Reach at 10:00 a.m. ET on Tuesday, June 18. Out of Reach documents the high cost of rental housing for low-wage workers and extremely low-income renters across the U.S.
Out of Reach reports the Housing Wage for every state, metropolitan area, county, and metro-area ZIP code in the U.S. The Housing Wage is the hourly wage a full-time worker must earn to afford a modest rental home without spending more than 30% of his or her income on housing costs. The report compares the Housing Wage to average renter wages, minimum wages, and the wages of the fastest growing occupations (see “Fact of the Week” in this week’s Memo to Members and Partners).
