By Sid Betancourt, NLIHC Manager, Inclusive Community Engagement
This month’s “Tenant Talk Live” featured a discussion on HUD’s proposed mixed-status rule. NLIHC Manager of Inclusive Community Engagement Sid Betancourt led the call featuring guests Megan Choi and Tabatha Yelos of POWER-LA. Megan and Tabatha discussed the proposed rule’s impacts on immigrant families and how residents and tenant leaders can get involved. They also shared information about the Keep Families Together campaign, which includes prompts for commenting on the proposed rule and how tenants in Los Angeles are fighting back against the proposal. Advocates will have an opportunity to comment on HUD’s proposed rule, in addition to other HUD regulations, at NLIHC’s Housing Policy Forum, taking place March 10-13, 2026.
