Tenant Talk Live (08/03): The August "Tenant Talk Live" featured NLIHC IDEAS Intern and Georgia State University Graduate Research Assistant, Treasure Evans.
Our Homes, Our Votes Webinar (08/10): While previous webinars focused on the current election landscape post-Louisiana v. Callais, August’s OHOV webinar gave participants tangible tools and skills to engage their communities in voter registration and participation. Panelists focused on resources available through Nonprofit VOTE’s National Voter Registration Day and Register Her’s V.O.I.C.E trainings.
National HoUSed Campaign Call (08/11): NLIHC discussed the impact of the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS’s) updated public charge rule on access to assisted housing for immigrants and their families, gave various federal policy updates, and heard from our partners in the field.
Summer of Ideas Documentary Screening (08/13): NLIHC hosted the second installment of our Summer of IDEAS film series. We screened "Unblocked Englewood", which follows artist and activist Tonika Lewis Johnson and the Chicago Bungalow Association as they work to repair the lasting impacts of discriminatory housing policies in Chicago's Englewood neighborhood.
Staff Retreat: From Aug 19-21, NLIHC hosted the 1.5 day annual staff retreat where staff bonded with a series of teambuilding exercises.
RECESS: NLIHC's annual recess (Aug 24-28, 2026) paused our operations post staff-retreat, concluding our summer scheduling. All operations will resume in September.
