National Alliance to End Homelessness Launches “Never Another Homeless Veteran” Campaign

The National Alliance to End Homelessness launched its “Never Another Homeless Veteran Campaign” at an event at the Newseum in Washington, DC on November 6. The two-year campaign supports the Administration’s goal of ending homelessness among veterans by 2015. As a first step, individuals are encouraged to sign the “Never Another Homeless Veteran statement,” which expresses support for government resources and action to end veteran homelessness by the 2015 goal. The statement reads as follows:“We recognize that we have benefited from the bravery and sacrifice of the men and women who have served our nation.“We commit to ensure the continued dignity of the men and women who have shown courage and resolve in the defense of our families, friends, and freedoms.“We have a plan to help veterans who need our help.“We will act to serve resources, educate officials, and contribute to the ongoing efforts by private and nonprofit organizations to guarantee that there is never another homeless veteran.”The statement has already been signed by more than 2,000 individuals including General Colin L. Powell, USA, Retired; Lt. General Brent Scowcroft, USAF, Retired; President George H.W. Bush; Senator Patty Murray; and former Congressman and Secretary of Defense Leon E.
