Project Homekey
Homekey is a statewide effort to sustain and rapidly expand housing for persons experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness, who are especially impacted by COVID-19 and other communicable diseases. It provides an opportunity for local public agencies to purchase motels and a broad range of other housing types in order to increase their community's capacity to respond to homelessness and the current COVID-19 pandemic. State, regional, and local entities can develop a broad range of housing types (e.g., hotels, hostels, single-family homes, apartment buildings, adult residential facilities, manufactured housing), and convert commercial properties and buildings to permanent or interim housing.
