NLIHC Welcomes Carsyn Parmelee as Field Intern

NLIHC is pleased to welcome Carsyn Parmelee as field intern for the summer of 2024. Carsyn is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in cognitive neuroscience and psychological and brain sciences at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Prior to joining NLIHC, Carsyn worked alongside her grandmother, Dr. Mary M. McLaughlin, to aid and advocate for people experiencing chronic homelessness in Auburn, NY. Together, Carsyn and Dr. McLaughlin co-founded the nonprofit organization “Mimi’s Guys” – affiliated with Dr. McLaughlin’s (Mimi’s) non-profit, Cape Haven, Inc. – which held annual collection drives to aid people experiencing homelessness. As a witness to the transformative effect of homelessness outreach and advocacy, Carsyn became dedicated to serving underrepresented populations, first through Mimi’s Guys and now through NLIHC. We are excited to have Carsyn on board for the summer!
