NLIHC hosted a national HoUSed campaign call on January 28. NLIHC Senior Vice President of Public Policy and Field Organizing Sarah Saadian discussed the federal funding freeze and presented a recap of the confirmation hearing for the HUD Secretary nominee Scott Turner and an analysis of the Executive Orders (EOs) issued by President Trump, as well as their potential impact on housing and homelessness services. NLIHC Public Policy Manager Kim Johnson, CBPP Senior Policy Analyst Anna Bailey, and NAEH Program and Policy Analyst Dr. Yolanda Stevens discussed the reconciliation bill being considered by congressional Republicans and the impact that proposed cuts to vital programs like Medicaid would have on people experiencing homelessness. Arizona Housing Coalition Executive Director Nicole Newhouse provided a field update on how Medicaid funds help people experiencing homelessness. A recording of the call, as well as the presentation slides, are now available. The next national HoUSed campaign call will take place on February 11 from 4 - 5 pm ET. Register for the call.
