Recap of 2/10 Capitol Hill Day Prep Webinar

Feb 13, 2026

NLIHC hosted a webinar on February 10 to prepare advocates for the 2026 Capitol Hill Day on March 13, the final day of NLIHC’s annual Housing Policy Forum. Capitol Hill Day provides advocates from across the country the opportunity to meet with members of Congress and their staff to discuss the affordable housing and homelessness solutions their communities need.

NLIHC Senior Policy Director Kim Johnson opened the webinar with an overview of NLIHC’s 2026 policy priorities and a walkthrough of the 2026 Capitol Hill Day Advocacy Toolkit, which outlines the coalition’s federal policy asks and offers guidance for preparing for meetings on Capitol Hill.

Deputy Director of the Housing Narrative Lab Sarah Armour shared best practices for delivering clear, compelling messages and incorporating personal narrative into policy conversations. Experienced state captains Rachael Myers of the Washington Low Income Housing Alliance, Christie Bevis of the Low Income Housing Coalition of Alabama, and Mindy Woods, Human Services Program Manager of the City of Edmonds and NLIHC board member, followed with practical advice and insight into what advocates can expect during their Hill meetings.
