Register Now for Today’s (12/12) NLIHC, NAEH, CBPP Webinar on Homelessness and Housing First!

NLIHC, the National Alliance to End Homelessness (NAEH), and the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP) invite advocates nationwide to register for our new webinar series on homelessness and Housing First! Join us for the first webinar in the new series, “Threats to Housing First,” today (December 12) at 2:30 pm ET.

NLIHC Senior Vice President of Public Policy and Field Organizing Sarah Saadian will provide opening remarks and an overview of state, local, and federal legislation seeking to undermine Housing First, as well as proven solutions to homelessness. Marc Dones, CEO of the King County Regional Homelessness Authority, will address why Housing First is fundamental to ending homelessness and should be preserved. George Eklund, director of education and advocacy at the Coalition for the Homeless in Louisville, will discuss emerging threats to Housing First, highlighting how efforts to divert federal homeless assistance funds to non-Housing First programs would impact the Coalition’s work and the people it serves. Marqueia Watson, executive director of the Greater Kansas City Coalition to End Homelessness, will speak about her organization’s efforts to fight back against the criminalization of homelessness in Missouri, and Shams DaBaron, a homeless advocate in New York City, will discuss the impact of criminalization on people experiencing homelessness. NLIHC’s Sarah Saadian will end the call by sharing how advocates can engage with their members of Congress on Housing First and counter efforts to undermine proven solutions to homelessness.

More than 7,000 people registered for the four-part webinar series held by NLIHC and our partners in August and September. Given the tremendous interest among stakeholders and the increased risk of harmful measures to criminalize homelessness, we decided to continue our national webinar series monthly, beginning on December 12. We will continue to share critical information about solutions to homelessness and amplify the work of advocates and people with lived expertise across the nation.
