The City of Wichita received $72.4 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to support the response to and recovery from COVID-19. In August 2021, the City Council approved allocating $5 million in ARPA funds for an Affordable Housing Fund (AHF). The goal of the Affordable Housing Fund is to improve the quality of the existing affordable housing stock (rental and for-sale), while expanding quality affordable housing options and promoting neighborhood stability in the city's core areas.
