NLIHC bids a grateful farewell to Elayne Weiss, who served as a policy analyst and senior policy analyst at NLIHC since 2014. Elayne leaves NLIHC to serve as a senior counsel on the House Financial Services Committee, where she will continue to work on affordable housing issues. She is well known to NLIHC members and Capitol Hill staffers for her expertise on the federal budget and HUD programs that serve the lowest-income people. Among Elayne’s many contributions at NLIHC were her leadership on the Coalition’s policy work on federal affordable housing funding (including leading the Campaign for Housing and Community Development Funding), housing and criminal justice reform, and the campaign to oppose to HUD’s proposed mixed-status immigrant-family rule, among many others. The NLIHC board and staff appreciate her exceptional service to the Coalition and wish her well in her new endeavors.
