NLIHC’s State and Local Innovation (SLI) project aims to support state and local partners in advancing, implementing, and enforcing state and local tenant protections, sustaining emergency rental assistance (ERA) programs, preventing the criminalization of homelessness, and supporting the advancement of other innovations that keep eviction rates down and prevent homelessness. The SLI project shapes and informs federal policies addressing the needs of the lowest-income and most marginalized renters in the U.S. by hosting webinars, releasing resources, and gathering data about state and local tenant protections. Over the course of this year, the SLI project has published a selection of toolkits and case studies on tenant protections in state and local jurisdictions as part of the State and Local Tenant Protection Series: A Primer on Renters’ Rights.
