Join Upcoming Training Institute for Tenants & Residents Pilot Program Webinars
Sep 05, 2025
NLIHC invites you to join the second half of the pilot Training Institute for Tenants & Residents, launching September 2025. The program, launched in April 2025, empowers tenants and residents with the tools and knowledge needed to advocate for safe, stable, and affordable housing.
The first half of the pilot featured sessions on organizing, fundraising, and communications—resources designed to help build lasting power in the community. The second half will build on the first three sessions and cover topics essential to the housing justice movement.
Upcoming Webinars
- Disaster Recovery 101—Thursday, September 25 at 4:00 pm ET
- When disaster strikes, renters are often the last to get help and the first to be displaced. This session breaks down the disaster recovery process—what it is, how it works, and most importantly, how you can organize for equitable recovery in your community. Learn how to navigate FEMA, protect tenant rights, and ensure no one is left behind.
- Civic Engagement 101—Thursday, October 30 at 4:00 pm ET
- Your voice has power—now let’s use it. In this session, we’ll explore how tenants can influence elections, boost voter turnout, and build long-term civic power. Whether you’re registering voters or showing up at town halls, this workshop will equip you with the tools to make housing justice a voting issue in every election.
- Advocacy 101—Thursday, November 13 at 4:00 pm ET
- Change doesn’t happen by chance—it happens through advocacy. This webinar will guide participants through the fundamentals of policy advocacy, from meeting with elected officials to building powerful coalitions. Learn how to turn your story into action and move the needle on the policies that impact housing stability and justice.
- Policy 101—Thursday, January 29 at 4:00 pm ET
- Ever wondered how housing policies are made—and how you can shape them? This session will demystify the policymaking process at the local, state, and federal levels. Learn how to track legislation, understand your rights, and influence the systems that impact your rent, your neighborhood, and your future.
- Equity, Race & Culture 101—Thursday, February 26 at 4:00 pm ET
- Housing injustice isn’t just about systems—it’s about people. This session explores how race, culture, and identity shape access to housing, displacement, and power. We’ll examine the historic and ongoing barriers—from redlining to gentrification—and center the voices and lived experiences of those most impacted. Participants will gain tools to recognize systemic inequities and advance housing justice rooted in equity, dignity, and community leadership.
